The functionality, the mixing of traditional with modern and their unification are the main aims in the designing of this apartment. The spaces are separated and united at the same time. The fact that the apartment is a duplex helped us to create a very efficient division between the night zone and day zone.
The night zone in her design has been styled for privacy in each space. Meanwhile in the day zone has been created a virtual connection between spaces, so you don't feel alone in any of the parts of this space. We find tradition here in design and function. The element of ruined wall is dominant and significant, as well as the old rugs or the under-scale part turned into a small warehouse. Our challenge was to mix the above mentioned elements in the best way possible from the functional and esthetical perspective. The living room, as the mostly used space of the house, has been designed carefully to be suitable with the physical parameters like the light or the draught. A calm and relaxing space dominated by the natural colors which have a psychological effect for the detachment from the dynamism and the fatigue of the Tirana's lifestyle.
Plasma TV stands in the background of the old brick as the fire-place in its design is modern but like an element itself has its roots in prehistory. The middle table has been designed in such a way that it is functional in the center and at the same time to be divided and to take its parts in different places of the house. Have been studied really carefully even the decorative details, the elements, the tapestry. Combining together glass, iron and wood. The lighters are probably the most modern element in this apartment. Their crystals look like a precious jewel and are the only decor in the clean empty ceiling.
The cooking cabinet is based on functionality. Flaring part is the working bar which has been realized with molded material all in one, including here the dishwashing, avoiding the moisture in each corner. The cooking-dining space is separated physically with the living room, but they are connected by the element of glass, which allows visibility from the dining room in the living room and not vice versa. In this way the housewife won't feel alone even for a single moment. This room is designed for two kids of different genders, however the next challenge wasn't that..It was needed that actually in a not really large space to be set the playing, sleeping and studying zone.
This has been reached through the sofa-beds that when you open them become dim 120 cm. During the day the whole space is for playing. The studying desks are set near the window in order to have as much sunlight as possible, meanwhile in the ceiling has been set an artificial lightning, oriented in the studying zone. The desks are independent from each-other. Besides the room, wardrobe and the bath that fit together in this space, we have created unity even in materials. There are combined wood, leather, glass, and the background of curtains with flowers motifs.
